I love compotes and jams, and thought why not add some living bacteria that heals and supports gut health!
Blueberries are jam packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, hibiscus is also filled with antioxidants, immune boosting, and gut health goodness.
This is so simple to make, so no excuses!
Enjoy warm on ice cream, in yogurt, on toast, or in my delicious Horny Ginger Float!
Add your maple syrup, hibiscus powder (or tea bag), and blueberries into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook the mixture for about 5-6 minutes or until the blueberries are soft, have mostly bursted, and the liquid has thickened a bit. Remove tea bag if using.
Take your saucepan off the heat and allow to cool until warm to the touch. You don't want your mixture to be too hot or it can kill the probiotics.
Once cooled, pour into a glass or ceramic bowl, using a nonmetal spoon, add your probiotics into the compote and stir until completely dissolved.
Jar up and store in the refrigerator.
