What is comfrey root used for exactly?
If you have any minor cuts or scrapes, swelling from an injury or surgery, bruising, or aches and pains, simply apply comfrey root oil or salve and watch it do it’s work.
To make the extract I used 1/4 cup of comfrey root, adding it to a half pint mason jar. I then filled the rest of the jar up with olive oil. You can use other carrier oils but I chose olive because that’s what i had on hand, and it’s a really great oil for anyone sensitive to coconut oil. Cover it up with a lid and sit in a sunny window for 4-6 weeks.
The warmth from the sun will aid in the extraction process without heating it up too much. If the mixture gets too hot it can destroy the healing properties in the comfrey root, so the natural sun light is perfect.
Give your mixture a good shake, shake every day or so. I label and date my jars, and once the time is up, simply strain the root from the oil and use it as is in a dropper bottle or add to salves.
Apply to bruises, cuts, scrapes, etc.
